Recently I have been studying an invasive grass, Microstegium vimineum, and its interactions with soil microbes. I am exploring how these interactions could be changing through time and whether they become more negative for the invader due to an increase in soil fungal pathogens. If interactions become more negative through invasion time coexistence between the invader and native plant species could be promoted. Understanding the evolution of these invaders as well as the surrounding community could aid in reducing the invader's abundance.
