We are excited to share a new scholarship opportunity for Plant Biology students: the Michael O. Moore Scholarship in Plant Biology. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Michael O. Moore (1957 -1999) who served as Curator of the Georgia Herbarium from 1990-1999.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to our two newest Ph.D. students in Plant Biology, Liz Thomas and Deanna Negru!

We are proud to share that Professor Michelle Momany was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology! This is a well-deserved honor for a highly valued University of Georgia and Department of Plant Biology colleague.

We want to take a moment to thank Chelsea Hargrove! Chelsea is stepping away from PBIO after nine years of service. Chelsea wore multiple hats in the Department; she was the admissions counselor, assistant to the graduate coordinator, and assistant to the undergraduate coordinator.

Congratulations to Emily Yaklich, Emma Chandler, Em Horne and Anna Wyngaarden, a.k.a. the Running Monsteras relay team for their successful marathon finish at the Inaugural Classic City Marathon on January 28!
