To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing as a reference for Ariunaa Jalsrai , who is a Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Microbiology, Institute of Biological Sciences. I have known Ariunaa for 15 years, during which time I have been very impressed with her performance as a Director of Institute of Biological Sciences, Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS).

Ms. Ariunaa came to our Institute from the State University of Irkutsk (Russia) where she received her MS degree in Biology. In the period of 1986-1989 she worked as a Research Fellow and studied the distribution of microscopic fungi in Mongolian soils and isolated some species with cellulolytic activity. In 1989-1993 Ariunaa was a postgraduate student at Moscow State University (Russia), and received her PhD degree in Microbiology on thesis "Formation of cellulylotic enzymes by Trichoderma reesei on lignocellulose substrate. In 1993-1995 she was a researcher at the Laboratory of Bioconversion of Plant Resources, the Bach Institute of Biochemistry, Moscow (Russia).

Since 1996 Ariunaa has worked at the Department of Microbiology, Institute of Biological Sciences, MAS, as a Senior Research Scientist. Ariunaa Jalsrai is studying the Fungi in different environments of Mongolia and their morphology, physiology and biochemistry. Also she is studying the mycorrhizal fungi and their use in land reclamation.

Ariunaa has also been trained in the University of Aberdeen, Scotland supported by Royal Society on Biochemistry of Fungi and in the University of Wyoming on Ecology of Fungi. Ariunaa Jalsrai is an Ass.Professor in the Mongolian Technical University and was a superb supervisor of research work of many students, giving her staff many hours of her time, training them carefully. Ariunaa is one of the most reliable scientists we have. She has been published about 16 research articles and reports in Mongolian, Russian and English and one book on Food Microbiology. Ariunaa has good knowledge in Computer science and good experience in microbiology, molecular biology, mycology, genetic and biochemistry. She speaks Russian and English. Ariunaa Jalsrai is intelligent, motivated, and caring.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about her background, qualifications, skills and work habits.
Sincerely Janchiv
Member of the Academy
Prof. Director of Institute of Biological sciences
MAS.
