I am teaching this seminar course every other year, most likely to be Spring of even number years. Dr. Jim Hamrick and I rotate in teaching this seminar. Topics of this course changes from year to year. The topic for Spring 2002 was “Ecology and Evolution of Plant Reproduction”
This is a course designed to use flowers, the reproductive structure, as an introduction to understanding the ecology and evolution of flowering plants. Topics that are covered in this lecture course include: floral structures, floral development, function of floral parts, self pollination, cross pollination, self incompatibility systems, pin-and-thrum systems, sex allocation theory, pollination syndromes, plant-pollinator coevolution and more. This course will be taught in the spring of even number years.
This is a graduate level course that includes a laboratory component. We will cover topics in the ecology and evolution of plant reproduction, including both theoretical and empirical emphases. This course will be taught in the fall of odd number years.
