Image: Congratulations to Max Barnhart, PhD candidate in the Burke Lab, for being awarded a prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Mass Media Fellowship. Max was also interviewed by AAAS for their member spotlight. For his PhD research Max studies sunflowers and how they react to heat and temperature stress, and he is also passionate about science communication. He aims to teach scientists how to better communicate with non-scientists and to facilitate the spread of scientific information to big audiences. Max will spend his fellowship at NPR (National Public Radio).
