The University of Georgia Herbarium, founded in the 1920's, is one of the largest herbaria in the southeastern United States with over 280,000 sheets of pressed plants from around the world.

Philip Bentz, a former graduate student in the Leebens-Mack lab, was recognized by the Department of Plant Biology with the 2024 Paper of the Year Award for his graduate work on Asparagus (published in September 2024).

We are happy to share that our graduate student endowment was renamed in honor of Shu-Mei Chang. It’s now known as the Shu-Mei Chang Graduate Student Endowment in Plant Biology.
